Impact Oil & Gas Snapshot

Impact Oil & Gas aims to become a leading oil and gas exploration company. The company is currently building an extensive portfolio with a clear strategic focus as an African only, exploration only, company, committed to sourcing high-potential exploration opportunities on the African continental margins. The company specialises in applying the latest seismic and processing techniques to maximise data quality and increase the chance of successfully identifying the most prospective blocks in medium to deep water exploration offshore South and West Africa.

Impact Oil & Gas was founded in 2009 by a team of highly experienced geoscientists with many years of exploration experience in the oil and gas industry. In addition to growing the business through finding the most prospective blocks within this defined geographic region, the management team has been building relationships with important stakeholders around the world, which have enabled Impact to compete and win blocks in some of the most prized regions and hotly contested auctions in recent years.

Impact Oil & Gas is open and honest in all its dealings with companies, governments, NGOs and other industry groups, and operates sustainably and with integrity wherever it does business. Impact Oil & Gas also conducts all its operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Impact Oil & Gas offers a unique offshore exploration investment opportunity, as the company aims to continue partnering with major oil and gas producers, to ensure economically viable production from the company’s licence areas, providing shareholders with high capital growth potential.

SOUTH AFRICA

Impact Oil & Gas Ltd, through its subsidiary Impact Africa Limited, maintains an interest in four prospective areas offshore South Africa. An Exploration Permit and three Technical Cooperation Permits are held:

 1. Tugela South Exploration Right

  • 2. Tugela North Technical Co-operation Permit
  • 3. Western Bredasdorp Technical Co-operation Permit
  • 4. Transkei & Algoa Technical Co-operation Permit

Technical Cooperation Permit (TCP)

A permit issued to applicant in terms of section 77(1) of MPRDA which allows the applicant to do desktop study, acquire seismic data from other sources including the Agency, etc; but does not include any prospecting or exploration activities.

A TCP gives the holder the exclusive right to apply for an Exploration Right, A right granted to the applicant in terms of section 80 of MPRDA to re-process the existing seismic data, acquisition and processing of new seismic data or any other related activity to define a trap to be tested by drilling, logging and testing, including extended well testing, of a well with the intention of locating a discovery.

An Exploration Right normally lasts for an initial 3-year period with three possible 2-year extensions – i.e. a total of 9 years.

NAMIBIA

Block 2913B covers 9,000 square kilometers in a location 300km offshore southernmost Namibia, immediately adjacent to the South Africa maritime boundary, and within 3,000m of water.

The acreage lies along the western toe of the Orange River delta, where deep marine fan sands are contained within large structural traps.

Whilst Block 2913B is located 150km west of the Kudu Gas field, recent exploration wells along the outer fringes of the Orange Basin have demonstrated that there exists a rich oil prospective zone running through the block.

Impact commenced acquisition of new 2D seismic data immediately upon receiving Namibian government consent for its entry to the license.

These data will be interpreted before year end 2014 with a view to acquiring high quality 3D seismic over selected prospect and leads during 2015.

GABON

Further information on Gabon assets to follow as soon as negotiations are completed with the government.

GUINEA-BISSAU

This 4,000 square kilometer deep-water exploration license is located 100km to the south-west of the Guinea Bissau archipelago and 200km from Bissau town.

The shallow water of Guinea Bissau and southern Senegal is dominated by a thick Mesozoic carbonate shelf, punctured by salt domes.  Two nearby oil accumulations are located on such structures -- the giant Dome Flore oilfield lying 100km to the north, and the Sinapa oil discovery immediately to the north-east of Block 4B.

To the west of the platform edge lies a large unexplored marine fan of Middle and Upper Cretaceous age, the Casamance Fan, which filled the deep water area with up to 4,000m of interbedded source rock mudstones and reservoir sandstones.

Impact’s interpretation of existing seismic data over this deep margin has demonstrated the presence of large stratigraphic traps with the potential to contain giant oil accumulations.  Impact is currently preparing to enter the second exploration phase of this license, during which it will acquire 3D seismic over much of the license in order to increase the definition of drillable prospects.
