Prairie Provident is a Calgary-based public company engaged in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas with conventional operations primarily focused in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta.
The company maintains a high working interest in a well-balanced portfolio of oil and gas properties. The assets consist of attractively priced light and medium oil with associated natural gas. Prairie Provident’s areas of focus are primarily at its Wheatland and Princess properties in Southern Alberta and its Evi area located in the Peace River Arch area of Northern Alberta.
Prairie Provident trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker PPR.

Patrick R. McDonald - Chairman
Mr. McDonald was appointed as Chairman of our Board in March 2011 and serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee. Since 2011, Mr. McDonald has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Carbon Natural Gas Company, an oil and gas exploration and production company, and of its predecessor, Nytis Exploration, since 2004. Prior to the business combination with Sabine Oil & Gas LLC in December 2014, Mr. McDonald served as the Chief Executive Officer of Forest Oil Company since September 2012, and its Interim Chief Executive Officer since June 2012. Mr. McDonald received a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Masters degree in Business Administration Finance from New York University. Mr. McDonald is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and is a member of the American Association of the Petroleum Geologists and of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists.
David M. Fitzpatrick - Director
Mr. Fitzpatrick has been a member of the Board since June 2011, and served as an interim executive officer from February through May 2013 until the appointment of Mr. Granger as our permanent Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fitzpatrick serves as Chairman of the Company’s Compensation Committee, and is a member of the Executive and the Reserves committees. Mr. Fitzpatrick has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Veresen Midstream, a natural gas and NGL processing company, since July 2015 and Chairman of Eagle Energy Inc. since March 2008. From 1996 to 2007, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Shiningbank Energy Ltd. (acquired by PrimeWest Energy Trust), an oil and gas company. Prior directorships include Pinecrest Energy Inc., Strike Petroleum Ltd., PrimeWest Energy Trust, Enerchem International Inc. and Compton Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Fitzpatrick is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and has a Chartered Director designation.
Terence (Tad) Flynn - Director
Mr. Flynn was appointed to our Board on January 31, 2014, and serves as Chairman of the Company’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and is a member of the Audit and the Compensation committees. Mr. Flynn is currently a Managing Director in the Financial Advisory Services business of Houlihan Lokey, an investment bank, serving as Head of Asset Management Services within that firm’s Portfolio Valuation & Advisory Services practice since April 2009. Previously, Mr. Flynn co-founded the firm’s Capital Markets practice. From 2001 to May 2009, Mr. Flynn served as the head of the Alternative Capital Markets Group at UBS. Mr. Flynn founded and ran Phoenix Media Group, a hybrid media music firm focused on the aggregation of copyrighted material, from 1998 to 2001. Prior thereto, Mr. Flynn worked for Salomon Brothers, from 1993 to 1997, in the corporate equity derivative group and then served as the deputy head of Global Equity Derivatives. Mr. Flynn served in a variety of roles with Bankers Trust, from 1983 to 1993, including corporate finance, derivatives, emerging markets and merchant banking, and also developed the first corporate equity derivative desk on Wall Street. Mr. Flynn received a Bachelor of Economics (with honors) from Harvard College in 1983.
Derek Petrie - Director
Mr. Petrie was appointed to our Board in September 2016, and serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and the Compensation and the Reserves committees. Mr. Petrie previously served on the Board of Arsenal Energy Inc., until its business combination with the Company. Since February 2016, Mr. Petrie has served as the President of R2 Design and Fabricating Ltd., following his initial retirement in April 2014. Since February 2014, he served as the director of T&T Inspections & Engineering Ltd., a division of Hyduke Energy Services, and from September 2012 to February 2014 served as the General Manager for the Nisku Alberta division of Do All Industries, a fabricating and engineering services company. For the prior 12 years, Mr. Petrie held the position of General Manager at Mastco Derrick Services Ltd. (a fabricator of drilling rigs for the oil and gas industry), which was subsequently purchased by Trinidad Drilling Ltd. Mr. Petrie is a Certified General Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant, and holds an Executive MBA from the Asia Pacific International University.
Ajay Sabherwal - Director
Mr. Sabherwal was appointed to our Board on January 31, 2014, and serves as Chairman of the Company’s Audit Committee, and as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and the Reserves Committee. Mr. Sabherwal serves as the Chief Financial Officer of FTI Consulting Inc., a business advisory company, since August 2016, and from July 2010 to August 2016 served as the Chief Financial Officer of FairPoint Communications, a telecommunications company. From March 2009 to July 2010, Mr. Sabherwal served as the Chief Financial Officer of Mendel Biotechnology, a plant biotechnology company and, from 2005 to March 2009, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Aventine Renewable Energy, a U.S. ethanol producer and marketer. Mr. Sabherwal was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Choice One Communications, a U.S. telephone and high-speed internet access service provider from 1999 to 2005. During 1993 to 1999, Mr. Sabherwal served as a Telecommunications Equity Analyst with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and, prior thereto, with Barclays de Zoette Wedd. Mr. Sabherwal received his Bachelor of Engineering, with honors, in mechanical engineering, and Master of Science, with honors, in economics from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science in India. Mr. Sabherwal also earned an MBA from the Manchester Business School in Manchester, United Kingdom.
Rob Wonnacott - Director
Mr. Wonnacott was appointed to our Board in September 2011, and serves as Chairman of the Reserves Committee, and is a member of the Audit and the Compensation committees. Mr. Wonnacott currently serves as Partner and Director of Value Point Capital, a private equity investment company, since 2010, and Principal of NVB Financial Corp., a financial advisory firm, since 2015. From June 2012 to July 2013, Mr. Wonnacott served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pendo Petroleum Corp., an oil and gas exploration and production company, and served as the Chief Financial Officer of Grizzly Oil Sands ULC, a privately owned bitumen development company, from January 2011 to June 2011. Mr. Wonnacott held various senior positions at National Bank Financial Inc., a provider of brokerage services to consumer, corporate, government and institutional clients in Canada, from 2001 to 2009, including Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking, and was responsible for the investment banking practice in the oil and gas utilities sectors. From 1991 to 2001, Mr. Wonnacott held various investment banking positions, including Managing Director, with BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. Mr. Wonnacott received his Bachelor of Science, with honors, in civil engineering from Queens University and his MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Tim Granger - President, CEO & Director
Mr. Granger was appointed as our President and Chief Executive Officer in April 2013 and serves as a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining our Company, Mr. Granger served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Molopo Energy Limited, an oil and gas exploration and production company, from January 2012 to January 2013, and as President and Chief Executive Officer, and director of Compton Petroleum Corporation from January 2009 to December 2011. Prior thereto, Mr. Granger held the office of Vice President, Asset Optimization and Chief Operating Officer at Paramount Energy Trust and, prior to that, Managing Director of TAQA North following the acquisition of Primewest Energy by TAQA in January of 2008. Mr. Granger had been the Chief Operating Officer of Primewest which he joined in 1999. Mr. Granger has more than 28 years of extensive experience in exploitation, production operations and asset management. Mr. Granger graduated from Carleton University with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
